Although you're unlikely to experience any issues with car damage on Carhood, we understand that you need protection.

For Car owners we have you covered under our Fleet Motor Policy with an APRA approved licensed insurer. The cover includes $40 million legal liability cover for you or anyone renting your vehicle and full comprehensive damage cover (based on market value up to $40,000) if the vehicle is accidentally damaged, stolen, or destroyed by fire.

You even have cover in the unlikely event that a Car hirer has breached the terms of the hire agreement. That's peace of mind for Car Owners.

For Car renters you have Damage Waiver Cover up to $40,000,000 for your legal liability to any third party whose property is accidentally damaged during the rental and for any liability you have to the Car owner (based on market value of the vehicle up to $40,000).

That's peace of mind for Car renters too. Insurance policies have terms and conditions and Carhood Damage Waiver Cover has them too.

An Accident Damage Excess (ADE) of $1,500 per claim (with an additional ADE of $500 for drivers 21-24) is payable for each claim. Damage Waiver Cover may not be available in all circumstances.

For example, there is no cover if the vehicle is driven by anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs and renters are not permitted to drive the vehicle on unsealed roads unless the vehicle is a 4WD or in a manner that causes underbody or overhead damage.  The conditions of and exclusions to Damage Waiver Cover are fully set out in the Carhood Owner Terms & Requirements and the Carhood Renter Terms & Requirements.
